Software Quality Assurance Engineer

The Sales Platform team is looking for an experienced QA Automation Engineer to help us in building the next generation of our sales platform. We are building an application that uses micro-frontend technologies to expose various features that other teams around Sunrun are creating. It is an integral part of our sales process and critical in driving revenue for the company.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Communicate effectively in a fully remote environment with a fully distributed team.

• Well experienced with Agile methodologies and Work with management on adoption and sprint planning.

• Create end to end, system, and regression test plans to convert to automated tests and run them periodically with effective reporting on the execution status.

• Develop & maintain automated UI Tests using Playwright, Selenium or similar tools to facilitate the business communication process across multiple products.

• Analyze requirements and provide estimation for work completion.

• Create site reliability tools to monitor overall performance of the system.

• Design and develop automation solutions to help verify features for all production deliverables.

• Manage code versioning using GitHub Repos.

• Perform code reviews and peer reviews.

• Troubleshoot issues in the production environment and resolve issues.

• Possess strong problem-solving and creative troubleshooting skills.

Education and Experience

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or equivalent work experience.

• Hands-on Test Automation experience using test automation tools like Selenium, Playwright, and/or Cypress.

• Strong understanding of testing deliverables within Agile and Scrum methodologies.

• Willing to explore new tools via Proof of Concepts (POC) and provide recommendations for tool adoption.

• Strong understanding of testing deliverables within Agile and Scrum methodologies

• CI/CD implementation using Jenkins or Github Actions to implement gate checks across different environments for deployments.

• Experience Creating tools and framework to monitor the health of applications (e.g. site reliability).

Bonus Experience

• Experience with AWS infrastructure, S3, CloudFront, and CDK.

• Mobile automation testing and performance testing experience like load/stress testing.

Skills and Competencies

It is expected that candidates will not have experience with all parts of our tech stack and that they will spend time with our team ramping up as needed.

• Implement and maintain automated tests in Java using Maven or similar technologies like JavaScript, TypeScript, and NodeJS.

• Articulate and validate comprehensive testing plans for automation applications across different products.

• Create continuous integration for release automation that involves UI, Microservices, and AWS/GCP based infrastructure.

• Develop and maintain API Automation tests using Rest Assured or similar tools.

• Create and maintain industry-standard automation frameworks for complex Web/API based Sunrun applications and integrations with SFDC/AWS/GCP or similar cloud-based platforms.

The starting salary/wage for this opportunity is:

$90,150 to $109,000

Other rewards may include annual bonus eligibility, which is based on company and individual performance, short and long term incentives, and program-specific awards.  Sunrun provides a variety of benefits to employees, including health insurance coverage, an employee wellness program, life and disability insurance, a retirement savings plan, paid holidays and paid time off (PTO).
