Everything we do at Sunrun is driven by a determination to transform the way we power our lives. We know that starts at the individual employee level. We strive to foster an environment you can thrive in through our commitment to diversity, inclusion and belonging.

About:

A renewable energy revolution is beginning to blossom into the world’s largest industrial transformation since the personal computer.  The aging and vulnerable electrical grid is rapidly being supplemented and replaced by rooftop solar and rechargeable batteries.  That evolution is about to explode as drivers flock to EVs and fuel those cars with electricity from home, leaving gas stations a relic of the past and spiking demand for sustainable, reliable, and affordable electricity.  Sunrun is in the driver’s seat to lead this energy revolution as America’s leading residential solar and renewable energy provider, and is leading the change through modernizing and re-imagining the future of home electrification. We are looking for skilled individuals to help us drive this transformation with an entrepreneurial and customer first spirit helping cement Sunrun as the leader of the revolution.

Overview:

Sunrun is seeking a Product Manager with an innovative and results-oriented mindset to define, deliver and evolve our design tools. These products help our solar and electrification products come to life for customers at point of sale by providing rich visualizations and accurate system design options, and for our internal teams in our design and installation process by ensuring we can design the right system to meet our customers’ needs. Sunrun designs and deploys residential solar-powered energy solutions at a massive scale across multiple go-to-market channels, utilizing multiple business models. We are looking for a Product Manager who is energized to understand the complexities of designing and delivering these solutions to meet the needs of both internal and external customers -  including homeowners, our internal design and construction teams, external partners and sales reps - and leverage those insights to deliver a differentiated set of products and a smooth customer experience.

As a Sr. Staff TPM, Design Tools, you will bring a rigorous, user-centered and results-oriented perspective to this problem space and lead the roadmap vision, definition and delivery of this product to provide our customers with simple and predictable experiences. You have a bias to thoughtful action, and effectively balance the need to understand the “why” with efficiently and effectively getting things done. You will combine creative product strategy and technical acumen to deliver incredible products and experiences that will take into consideration current and future energy needs of the customer, roof angle and orientation, solar irradiance calculations, shading analysis, jurisdictional requirements and run simulations to present the most efficient design options and proposals to our customers. You will own a product with a significant impact on customer experience, innovation path, and operations of our company.

Responsibilities:

  • Define product vision, strategy and requirements in collaboration with cross functional stakeholders

  • Gather and leverage customer needs and feedback to drive roadmap prioritization and decision making

  • Deliver and evolve a winning set of design tools that enables both our business today and our future Electrification vision

  • Evangelize platform mentality, building for scale, and reuse across multiple experiences

  • Collaborate with TPMs across the organization to identify, plan and manage cross-product dependencies

  • Engage closely with engineering to help determine the best technical implementation and design while balancing time-to-market needs

  • Organize business and user requirements into epics and user stories with clear acceptance criteria and actionable items for engineering teams

  • Promote a collaborative and action-oriented culture across teams and stakeholders by maintaining open and constant communication, but also ensuring that we are efficiently driving decisions and outcomes.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience

  • 8+ years of work experience. 6+ years in Product management roles

  • A blend of technical expertise, business acumen and customer empathy with an ability to design innovative solutions for complex problems

  • A passion for empathizing with and learning from customers

  • Proven track record of aligning and influencing stakeholders and driving consensus at all levels in a large organization

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate complex needs into structured requirements and partner with engineering to drive software development

  • Experience leading execution of complex products in a effective and timely manner

  • Detail-oriented with exceptional written and oral communication skills.
